7a+ Pink Holds

This route was a standout to me as it posed as an approachable project for the youth academy at the climbing wall this was set at. As there is no one single crux move or section, the whole route is sustained in difficulty throughout and tests the technique and basic strength of the climber.

6a+ Fluorescent Yellow Holds

This specific route was set with the idea that all the holds would be positive jugs so there was not much physical strength required. However I wanted the moves to test the technique of the climber and pave the way to higher grades for anyone who’s max grade was around 6a. By making the holds positive the climber can purely focus on the technicality of the route.

This route is also a part of a 3 way link up explained by the topography below.

8a Black & Purple Holds

This was one of my favourite routes set to date as it was on my favourite section of wall at this particular climbing wall and the style that fit me the most. ‘Bouldery‘ start with sustained physical moves leading up to a tricky finish. This route managed to outlive its shelf life and remained in the centre for around a year posing as a test piece for the stronger climber.

6a Red Holds

The route can be seen on the right side of the image and are the large red holds. I set this route with the idea to involve lots of simple, yet pleasing moves on big juggy holds. At this particular climbing gym most of the climbers who attend are climbing around 6a, so I set out to make the route first look good and then climb good so that the route would entice climbers into giving it a try over the several other routes that come in at 6a at the gym.

MORE COMING SOON…

This portfolio may seem small as it isn’t a complete record of our work.

I have had experience setting at a range of grades from 4+ - 8a
